Family Fun Activity Day at Mount Batten Centre with Active Devon
The Mount Batten Watersports and Activities Centre in Plymouth will be hosting the 3rd Summer Sports festival on Saturday 21st June. All ages and abilities will be welcome at the day which will feature sport, activities and entertainment at this free event.
Active Devon is working in partnership with the Mount Batten Watersports and Activities Centre to bring this free event to everyone interested in trying sports and getting active. Everyone is welcome including families, to come along and get involved in a wide range of activities
The first summer sports festival formed part of the community games programme to bring local communities in a cultural and sporting celebration on the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games. This event will support the continued interest in the legacy work which continues across the region.
The Mount Batten Watersports and Activities Centre in Plymouth is one of the foremost outdoor education centres in the South West. This year sees the Centre celebrate 15 years of offering sport and outdoor activity. The Centre benefits from its unique position close to the picturesque Plymouth Sound. These idyllic surroundings will provide a great opportunity for everyone to escape routine and enjoy everything the Summer Sports Festival has to offer.
This free event starts at 11am (until 4.30pm) offering a wide range of activity including the watersports of sailing, canoeing, rowing and the biggest new craze to sweep the UK in recent years, stand-up paddle boarding. In addition you can try power boating (this will be chargeable at £5 per head) Please book in advance for watersports by contacting Matt.price@devon.gov.uk
Whilst enjoying the scenery there will be the chance to try out other activities. Get an adrenaline rush and abseil down the side of the centre. Also there will be a chance to try out the golf target zone and try to be the table tennis robot. The Devon FA will be on hand to offer hints and tips and there will be a chance to canoeing on the centre ergo land simulators.
To keep everyone entertained there will also be face painting a quiz and treasure hunt along with music on day.
