Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 June:
Cornwall Contemporary Poetry Festival
Falmouth Poetry Group presents this two-day celebration of the best in new poetry, including readings and workshops from some of the UK’s most exciting poets. A brand new poetry competition accompanies the festival, judged by internationally acclaimed poet Imtiaz Dharker.

A full programme will be announced soon, along with details of how to reserve tickets for the festival. In the meantime, here’s a taster of what’s to come:

Headlining the festival is Imtiaz Dharker, whose cultural experience spans Pakistan, Britain and India. Freedom, culture, politics – there’s nowhere her poetry doesn’t dare to go.

A stellar line-up will also include:

 David Morley, Professor of Poetry at Warwick University and an award-winning poet with a particular connection to the natural world and the world of the Roma.

 Kei Miller, a young Jamaican writer who has published three collections of poetry and whose work is guaranteed to raise the rafters.

 Greta Stoddart, another prize-winning poet, who trained in performance and worked for several years as a clown before turning to poetry.

There will also be panel discussions, workshops and field trips run by the poets, a wandering poet performing on stilts, open-mic spots for visitors to read their own work, and much conviviality in the surroundings of one of Cornwall’s most beautifully situated villages.
