New road safety measures for Cotehele Avenue and St Leonard’s Road
A new speed limit and one-way system are being introduced in Cotehele Avenue and St Leonard’s Road in Cattedown to improve road safety.
The measures, which are being introduced following consultation with local residents, will also include new signposts and new road markings to improve vehicle access, movement and parking.
Work will start on Tuesday 4 March and last for around three weeks.
The new 20mph speed limit will apply to Cotehele Avenue, St Leonard’s Road and on parts of Collingwood Avenue and Tintern Avenue.
Double yellow lines will also be introduced at junctions to allow larger delivery and refuse vehicles to move through the area easily and avoid unnecessary congestion.
Councillor Mark Coker, Cabinet Member for Transport, said: “Making our streets as safe as possible is a clear priority and these measures should help to reduce traffic speeds, improve traffic flow and make the local area safer for all road users.”
