Man escapes after van plunges into River Tamar
A man has been taken to hospital after his van crashed through a bridge wall and plunged 15 feet into the fast-flowing River Tamar in Cornwall.
The accident happened at about 9am on Saturday morning on the New Bridge in Gunnislake.
The van demolished a section of the parapet wall and plunged about 15ft (5m) into the River Tamar.
The 30-year-old driver was taken to Derriford Hospital for treatment, but is not thought to be seriously hurt.
The bridge is expected to be closed for a week and diversions have been put in place.
