Researchers at the University of Exeter need your help to better understand the health effects of recreational visits to freshwater locations in the UK. We are looking for swimmers who recently visited rivers, lakes, or quarries and participants who did not participate in water-based recreation (comparator group) to complete a short online questionnaire (10 minutes, or less) about their health, diet and behaviour.

Volunteers must be:

  • Aged 16, or over
  • Living in the UK

If you responded to this survey before, we would like to invite you to complete the questionnaire again. Although, please note that if you are only able to submit your responses once, this is still providing valuable insights. The survey will remain open until the end of the bathing season (September 2024).

All information you provide will be treated with confidentiality, and your data will be anonymised to protect your identity. Participation in this research is entirely voluntary, and you have the freedom to withdraw from the project at any time.

We hope that the findings from this work provide much-needed information on the health risks of water pollution.
