Man arrested in connection with Carharrack murder
Police investigating the murder of 72-year-old David Alderson from Falmouth have arrested a man in connection with his death.
The body of Mr Alderson (pictured) was found on Saturday 18 January 2014 within the grounds of the mine works at Wheal Maid near Carharrack in Cornwall.
Initial enquiries suggested he may have suffered a cycling accident but as the investigation has progressed, the death is now being treated as suspicious.
Following enquiries in the Devon and Cornwall and Thames Valley policing areas, a 33-year-old man from Redruth, who was sought in connection with the incident, was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday 4 February.
He was arrested in the Newbury area by officers from Thames Valley Police and will be taken to Camborne police station later today.
Detective Superintendent Paul Burgan, Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “The public response to our earlier press appeal has been excellent and we would like to thank them for their assistance.
“The investigation remains ongoing and anyone with further information should call police on 101.”
