Plymouth believe they could benefit from the fact that Ryan Fisher has been replaced at number one in the team’s averages by skipper Kyle Newman, writes Graham Hambly.

Teams are required to name the rider at the top of the averages in the number one position, which will now be taken by Newman, who has increased his average from 6.51 to 7.44.

The Skills Group Devils co-promoter Ashley Taylor says: "It could be to our advantage to have the opportunity of fitting Ryan in any position between two and five, especially if he is back to his true form."

Fisher has had a frustrating start to the season but has been back to his base in Poland testing his bikes.

Taylor says: "Ryan is confident that he has found a solution to his problem and it will be a case of seeing what he can produce this week in the home match against his former club Peterborough. It would be good to see him hit the ground running in that one."

New averages: Kyle Newman 7.44, Jack Holder 7.00, Morten Risager 6.98, Ryan Fisher 6.97, Sam Simota 5.80, Ashley Morris 3.75, Sam Chapman 3.00

Plymouth: 1.Kyle Newman (C) 7.44, 2.Sam Simota 5.80, 3.Jack Holder 7.00, 4.Morten Risager 6.98, 5.Ryan Fisher 6.97, 6.Ashley Morris 3.75, 7.Ben Morley (G) 3.00 (for Sam Chapman speedway injury)
