Match Preview: Plymouth Argyle v Rotherham United

Plymouth Argyle v Rotherham United

League Two, Saturday 20th April 2013, 3pm

The last home game of the season for Plymouth Argyle. A win will secure their League Two status and confirm the last few weeks have been a triumphant battle for manager John Sheridan and his players.

Rotherham however may have other ideas as they arrive off the back of three consecutive wins - against Exeter City, Fleetwood Town and Bradford City - in their push for an automatic promotion place. The Millers lie in third place on goal difference from Burton Albion with Cheltenham Town a further two points adrift. Steve Evans' side will therefore have every motivation at Home Park on Saturday afternoon.

The Pilgrims need one win to guarantee they remain in the division although they may survive without a victory if other results near the bottom go their way over the next two Saturdays.

The club has said goodbye to on-loan midfielder Lee Cox this week after a shoulder ligament injury was revealed by a scan. Cox will return to Swindon Town. This comes as a blow to John Sheridan who also recently lost another loanee, goal scoring hero Jason Banton who was recalled early by Crystal Palace.

However, with five wins in their last seven games, Argyle will be confident that they can end the relegation anxiety this weekend and travel to Rochdale next Saturday knowing they are safe.

The Pilgrims dedicated fans will be cheering them every step of the way.
