Devils dethrone Monarchs

Plymouth continued their recent improved form with a second successive home victory, beating Premier League leaders Edinburgh 48-42 at the St Boniface Arena on Saturday evening, writes Graham Hambly.

The Skills Group Devils eased into an eight-point lead in the first four heats, providing all four race winners and never looked in danger of allowing their advantage to slip away.

Co-promoter Ashley Taylor said: "That was an excellent team performance with all the side working together.

"We have been showing signs of improvement over the last few weeks and that result shows what we are capable of achieving when all our riders hit form."

Reserve Sam Simota continued his run of impressive scores with 13 (paid 14) from five rides dropping his only point to Brady Kurtz in heat 11.

Ryan Fisher made a successful return from injury with a win in his opening race and finished in double figures with ten from five rides.

Pick of the Edinburgh side was skipper Craig Cook, who scored 14 points from five outings and set a new track record of 48.12 seconds in his second ride, clipping over a full second off the old time of 49.36 seconds.
