Awesome extreme endurance challenge comes to Plymouth
One of the nation’s toughest and most epic fun endurance races is coming to Devon.
Running through fire, crawling through tunnels of mud, climbing military styled nets and walls are all part of a new fitness craze sweeping the nation.
RockSolidRace held their first event earlier this year and organisers have been `gobsmacked’ at the numbers of people who want to take part in the next one – due to be held at Newnham Park in Plymouth on August 31st.
The 5k or 10k event is designed to be tough, but accessible for everyone – provided you can run a standard 5k or 10k event without stopping.
It’s absolutely guaranteed to get you wet and filthy as you crawl your way through mud, under barbed wire, jump through fire and wade through waist high water before undertaking more than 30 different types of obstacle.
More than 2,500 tickets were sold before the inaugural event at Escot Park and organisers are planning other such endurance feats around the country.
It’s not for the faint hearted but it can be for everyone. There’s a fifty fifty gender split in entrants, with the majority of places taken by students, sports clubs and staff on a corporate day out – what a team building day this would be!
But with live music and a beer tent this is an event where the focus is on fun and not harsh competition.
Ashley Jardine, Managing Director of Rocksolid Race says: “'RockSolidRace is a full on cocktail of mud, sweat and team work that will push your mettle to the max. Post race, the bands and music on offer celebrate your conquering of the beastly course and give you an event that you won't forget anytime soon.
“I used to do obstacle events and that is where the idea for this came from – I just wanted to do something different, and better than anything else. It’s also a great way to raise money for charity by doing something challenging and pushing yourself to the limit.”
