Albion end season on a high
Doncaster Knights 22 Plymouth Albion 26
RFU Championship, Saturday 20 April 2013
Plymouth Albion marked the end of the RFU Championship season with an away victory at relegated Doncaster.
It was a fitting way to say farewell to coach Nat Saumi who leaves the club to return to Fiji, and to usher in a new era under incoming coach James Shanahan.
Albion made a fine start, going into a 19-0 lead after half an hour thanks to two tries - from Luke Cowan-Dickie and the skipper, Ruairi Cushion - plus a penalty try. Doncaster fought back gamely to 19-15 before Paul Rowley scored a try to extend Albion's lead with only a few minutes left. Doncater finished strongly with a converted try in injury time but Albion held on to take the spoils.
It leaves Albion with a 9th placed finish and a platform from which to build for next season.
