Open day seeks businesses who can supply white goods
Plymouth City Council is holding an open day in a search for businesses that can supply white goods.
From April, Plymouth City Council will administer a new Emergency and Welfare Fund to replace the Government’s Social Fund, which is being abolished.
The new scheme will help Plymouth residents that are in extreme financial difficulty.
Residents will be able to apply for the scheme if they find themselves without any money. For example their money has been lost or stolen, they have lost their possessions due to a fire or flood, key household goods urgently need replacing or they require support moving out of care.
The Council is looking to set up a contract with suppliers that would be able to provide white goods for emergency situations, for example cookers, washing machines and fridges. The suppliers would need to be able to supply, install and recycle white good and deliver to locations within Plymouth.
Councillor Mark Lowry, Cabinet Member for Finance said: “This is an excellent opportunity for local businesses to register with us. It makes good business sense to come along to this event – as the saying goes 'you need to be in it to win it'”.
Businesses are invited to attend the open day, which is being held in the Plymouth Guildhall on Monday 18 March from 2.30pm to 5pm.
Those unable to attend the open day can visit www.devontenders.gov.uk or email procurement@plymouth.gov.uk for more information.
