Theatre Royal Plymouth Lab Company applications now open
Want to make great work with brilliant people? The Lab Company is for theatre-makers, from the Plymouth area, at the start of their careers. It’s a yearlong training programme with Theatre Royal Plymouth which offers exceptional mentorship and networking opportunities.
Successful applicants will work together as an ensemble and create a piece of theatre that will be programmed into The Lab at TRP.
Ben Lyon-Ross, Talent Development Producer at Theatre Royal Plymouth said: “As our industry has struggled through the pandemic, it’s been a particularly scary time for artists who are at the start of their careers. That’s why I’m delighted to be opening applications for the Lab Company again. The programme is an entry point to a career in theatre, a great option for anyone wondering ‘What’s next?’ and a brilliant way to meet collaborators and build your network”.
The project will provide; intensive training with Theatre Royal Plymouth creatives, workshops with nationally significant theatre companies, advice & mentoring from industry professionals, an opportunity to create and show a new piece of theatre in a professional environment, employment opportunities at the Theatre Royal Plymouth.
Who this project is for? Early Career Artists aged 18-30 who are currently living in or near Plymouth. The programme is for anyone looking to work in theatre professionally.

In recruiting for the Lab Company TRP recognise the unique contributions that individuals can bring in terms of education, opinions, culture, ethnicity, race, sex, gender identity and expression, nation of origin, age, languages spoken, colour, religion, disability, sexual orientation and beliefs.
When does the project take place? Sept 2021-July 2022, Thursday’s 10am-1pm and Friday’s 10am-4pm for 10 weeks each term/season, plus two full-time intensive weeks during the year.
Applications are open until 10am Monday 16th August 2021. Theatre Royal Plymouth will be offering auditions on the 06, 07, 20 and 21 August.
