Racing for Life? Train free with city council
Thinking of taking part in this year’s Cancer Research UK Race for Life? If so, don’t miss out on some great training sessions organised by Plymouth City Council’s Sports Development Unit to help you get in shape for the charity run.
The sessions will cater for women of all running abilities, including complete beginners, so if you’ve always fancied signing up but haven’t run for years this is your chance to have a go.
Fully qualified leaders will show you how to run safely, with warm-up and cool-down stretches.
Deputy Council Leader Peter Smith said: “Many of us will know someone whose life has been touched by cancer and we are very proud to support this event. Race for Life isn’t about being super fit or fast and it’s not about being first over the line – it’s about having fun and sharing a sense of achievement, while raising awareness and much needed funds for a very worthy cause.”
The 10-week courses will be starting at the following times and venues:
- Monday 11 April, 5.30pm: Derriford Health and Leisure Centre
- Wednesday 13 April, 6.15pm: Plymouth Life Centre
- Saturday 16 April, 9.15am: Plymouth Life Centre
The Plymouth Race for Life will take place on Sunday 19 June on Plymouth Hoe.
