Policing teams welcome new students to Plymouth
Devon and Cornwall Police are proud to be supporting the University of Plymouth during Fresher’s Week for 2014.
Over the course of the week the University policing team will be out and about meeting new and returning students, as well as participating in a series of events and activities to raise awareness of important issues.
On Wednesday 24th September, the team will be attending the Sports and Societies Fair, alongside Student watch, who are a team of students working in partnership with the police to gain valuable experience within their public services qualifications.
On Thursday 25th and Friday 26th the Neighbourhood policing team will be at the Welcome Fair, and where students will also have the chance to meet the Plymouth based Dogs Unit.
Following the Welcome Fair, on Thursday and Friday new students are invited to attend a series of workshops where the team will be discussing a range of issues including alcohol and sexual awareness, in the Graduation Marquee from 3-5pm.
Neighbourhood Beat Manager PC Kirsty Millar said: ‘The University policing team are looking forward to meeting both new and returning students to the city’
‘We hope that the students enjoy exploring Plymouth, and appreciate the city for all the exciting opportunities it has to offer.’
‘We actively encourage all students to have a fantastic time throughout Fresher’s Week, and would like to also encourage everyone to keep themselves and their belongings safe and secure during all the excitement of this week and for the rest of the year.’
