Plymouth apprentices crowned Apprentice Team of the Year 2015
Nine apprentices from Plymouth City Council have gone head to head with seven other teams from around the country in a bid to be crowned Apprentice Team of the Year 2015 at the Brathay Apprentice Challenge.
The two-day long adventure finale at Brathay Trust’s Windermere headquarters marks the end of six months hard work, involving some of the country’s leading apprentice employers, whose apprentices’ team building, leadership, logistical and communications abilities have been put to the test. The final concluded in a thrilling whaler boat race across Lake Windermere pushing the teams’ strength and teamwork to the limit.
As part of the Challenge the Plymouth City Council apprentices created a community orchard.
The seven other Brathay Apprentice Challenge finalist teams, each made up of nine apprentices are:
• Dale Power Solutions
• Team Perfec – from Pera Training
• British Airways
• HSBC
• Nottingham City Homes
• Redrow Homes
• Sellafield
To coincide with the final, new research1 found that while we are all addicted to social media, the nation’s employees are slow to use it to sell themselves to future employers. The data reveals that over 27 million Brits use social media on a daily basis2, but only a quarter (26%) sell themselves through social media to improve their careers and only 19% use it for their own career enhancement.
With 65% of those responsible for hiring staff using social media and a further 12% saying that a good social media presence impresses them, the country’s job hunters could be missing out by not including vital information on their social media profiles.
