Families holidaying in Cornwall this Summer will be able to join the characters from popular pre-school show Pip Ahoy! on some extraordinary adventures, taking part in a mixed-reality treasure hunt around the beautiful seaside towns of Penzance, Padstow, Falmouth, St Ives and Newquay in Cornwall.

From today, families will be able to access a Pip Ahoy! branded map of Cornwall at www.pipahoytrail.com and have fun seeking out hotspots dropped at popular tourist locations to unlock their favourite Pip Ahoy! characters and then upload character selfies and earn discount rewards for food, drink and attractions.

The news will excite fans of the show, which launched in the UK on Milkshake! in 2014 to huge acclaim and which features the voice of the wonderful Sir David Jason. The trail will also welcome new friends of Pip, who is a curious, confident and creative young puppy, usually to be found leading a team of intrepid explorers at Salty Cove, a picture-perfect seaside town, carrying out rescues, solving problems and, most importantly, having fun.

In addition to collecting the digital treasures, families can also unlock premium content to gain access to special offers and deals with local businesses, including award-winning family theme park, Crealy Adventure Park & Resort, which is offering a 25% discounted entry to those who can unlock the discount voucher. New businesses can still sign up and can find more information by emailing ed@strangethoughts.co.uk

The innovative scheme, developed by location-based experiences platform, Landmrk, and CHF Entertainment, creators of Pip Ahoy!, is the first of its kind. It is a bespoke platform, designed to excite children to explore the world around them and find out about local culture, whilst benefiting parents with offers and deals for local attractions. Increasing activity levels of children is important to Pip and his friends and this web-based app is designed to get children moving whilst enjoying their holiday!

Adrian Wilkins, CEO of CHF Media Group, comments: “Cornwall, with its amazing coastal locations, is the perfect spot to represent Pip Ahoy!’s Salty Cove and for families to join Pip on their own adventures. We’re incredibly excited to take Pip and his friends on their first adventure into mixed-reality and can’t wait to see fans new and old sharing selfies with him on their holidays, and engaging with the show like never before.”

Seth Jackson, CEO of Landmrk, said: “This project represents the next step in the evolution of destination holidays. It can be difficult for parents to pry their children away from screens in order to see the sights and take part in activities. Mixed reality and location-based experiences such as this provide an opportunity for families, as well as for the travel and tourism industry more generally, to instead embrace mobile devices for the enhancement of family holidays.”
