Operation Juggler aims to improve road safety

More than 20 drivers have been reported for offences by police as part of a multi-agency road safety operation in Plympton.

Local officers and Special Constables were joined by staff from HM Customs and Excise, VOSA, taxi licensing and Trading Standards for the operation in Vicarage Road on the morning of Wednesday 16 March.

In total 54 commercial and private vehicles were stopped and checked over by the agencies and the drivers given advice.

Police reported 21 motorists for a range of offences including vehicle defects, not wearing seat belts and using mobile phones while driving.

Drivers will either be fined or given the chance to take part in an education course to help them understand the consequences of their behaviour.

PC Michelle Evans, neighbourhood beat manager in Plympton, said: “We stopped and spoke with a large number of drivers during the operation. The aim of the morning was to improve safety on our roads and to educate drivers.”
