New Non-Executive Director announced at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust

NHS Improvement has appointed Colonel (Retired) Graham Raikes MBE as a new Non-Executive Director at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, with effect from today, Tuesday 25 September 2018.

Graham Raikes With a public sector career spanning over 40 years, Mr Raikes is currently the Director of Resources at the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC). He had a successful military career in the Army, holding a number of regimental appointments both at home, overseas and on operations, as well as in the Ministry of Defence and HM Treasury. In 1997 he was awarded an MBE for his services to management accountancy in the Army. He also worked as the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Resources) and Director of Corporate Finance at the University of Plymouth for five years.

“I have a passion for the delivery of and improvements in the public sector,” explains Graham. “I have been over-awed by the professionalism and dedication of the staff, in my experiences with Derriford Hospital. I’m keen to make a contribution and to give something back into the local area, and this position is a great opportunity to do just that.”

Richard Crompton, Chairman of University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, said: “I am delighted to welcome Graham to join our Board. He brings with him a wealth of experience in financial and strategic planning, and I’m sure he will be an asset to the Trust.”

Non-executive appointments to NHS Trusts made by NHS Improvement are subject to the Code of Practice of the Commissioner for Public Appointments.

Graham has been appointed from 25 September 2018 to 24 September 2022. He is entitled to receive a remuneration of £6,157 per annum. He has declared no political activity in the last five years.
