New Lord Mayor and Deputy Lord Mayor for Plymouth
Plymouth’s new Lord Mayor Councillor Richard Ball and Deputy Lord Mayor Councillor Terri Beer have officially taken up their roles.
Councillor Richard Ball has been Compton ward councillor since 2008 and was Deputy Lord Mayor in 2015/2016.
Councillor Ball was born and raised in Plymouth and apart from occasional absences due to his naval career, has lived here all his life. His wife Dianne will serve alongside him as Lady Mayoress for the year. Together they have two children and three grandchildren.
The Lord Mayor of Plymouth, Councillor Richard Ball, said: “I am delighted to start my term as Lord Mayor and honoured to represent the people of Plymouth.
“Plymouth is the city where I was born and raised and I am privileged to be asked to serve its people.
“I hugely enjoyed Lord Mayor’s Day and met many volunteers and charities that I look forward to supporting. The turnout was fantastic and I hope residents had as much fun as I did.”
Councillor Terri Beer will serve as Deputy Lord Mayor for the year. Councillor Beer has been a councillor for Plympton Erle since 2007 and served as the Cabinet Member for Children and Young People. Councillor Beer’s husband, Colin Beer will serve alongside her as Consort.
Deputy Lord Mayor Councillor Terri Beer said: “I am looking forward to supporting Councillor Richard Ball during his year as Lord Mayor. It will be a privilege to serve the people of Plymouth as Deputy Lord Mayor.
“I hope to use this position to shed light on some of the fantastic work our residents do for their communities.”
