Miss Torquay 2024
Beth Mitchell 30 years old born in Torquay, is the current reigning Miss Torquay 2024. She also has got herself a place in the final at Miss Great Britain National Final in October!
Beth is to represent Torquay a small seaside town in Devon in the final.
The last time Torquay was crowned a Miss was in 2016 with Lexie Carducci, 8 years ago!
With her title Beth has been supporting and fundraising for multiple different charities.
She started of by raised money for Bliss a charity for premature and sick babies. She walked 62 miles in the month of May and raised £115.
She then went on to raise money for Cancer Research and took part in Race of Life 5k - Pretty Muddy event in July and raised £172.
Beth's most favourite fundraiser she tells us and most scary has been for Alex's Wish, where Beth got locked into Shepton Mallet Prison, the world's most haunted prison for 12 hours over night!
"Between 8pm - 3.30am with my torch I explored the prison and grounds, learning the history and tales of the prison before I retired to my cell for a little shut eye on the concrete, cold floor and was awoke by the guards for my wakeup call at 6.30am." She tells us.
"Your cell comes with a rusty metal frame, no lights and no working toilet! It was an amazing experience and I'm glad I took the challenge on and got to share awareness about Alex's Wish a charity, a charity setup to eradicate Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, an aggressive form of Muscular Dystrophy that affects 1 in every 3,500 boy's born."
She had also helped with local events like volunteering Paignton Carnival Procession to help raise funds for Torbay community carnival.
Throughout the year, she will continue to fundraise and share awareness for charities and local events. Next, she plans to do a charity skydive in September for Cancer Research and she wants to end the year by giving up her Christmas and volunteering on Christmas Day to help feed the homeless.
