Mark Deacon has raised an amazing £800.00, which he has kindly donated to The Children’s Happy Hospital Fund (CHHF) at Derriford Hospital.

In April 2015, Mark ran the London Marathon and decided to donate the money raised to CHHF. After receiving donations from staff and students from his place of work, Looe Community Academy, a cheque was presented to Level 12.

Sue Rodgers, Play Specialist Team Leader, said: “The Children’s Happy Hospital Fund and the wards would like to thank Mark for this fantastic donation.

“What an achievement that Mark has run a marathon and in doing so raised £800 for the benefit of the children on the wards.

“We are looking to refurbish the cubicles to make them feel friendly, create a relaxing environment and to make them less clinical. This amount will be a good start for our first cubicle. We really do appreciate all of the hard work that Mark has done and know that the children will benefit from every penny.”

Mark said: “Both the students and staff at school were eager to help and organised a ‘guess the time’ competition, where they guessed how long it would take me to run the marathon, and the closest times won prizes.

“The London Marathon was an amazing experience, but what made it even greater was the way that the students got involved with the charity fundraising and the whole community effort. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone that contributed.”
