MARINE Academy Plymouth is inviting youngsters and their parents to gain hands-on experience of what is on offer at the academy during an open events.

From science experiments and rock climbing, to dancing and cookery, a range of activities will be on offer to give prospective new pupils a taster of life as a student at the UK’s first Marine Academy.

The open event, on September 29, is aimed at pupils looking to move up to secondary school, as well as younger pupils and their parents considering their educational choices in years to come.

Principal of Marine Academy, Nick Ward said: “This is a great opportunity for Year 5 and 6 primary school pupils to come and have a look at Marine Academy Plymouth and what we have to offer.

“Pupils can have a look around the facilities, meet their potential teachers and speak to some of our students. There will be lots of interaction and experiments for them to try out, but the main thing is for them to come and find out what we are all about.

“It is also a great opportunity for parents to come along and see what type of environment their children could be taught in.”

Marine Academy Plymouth opened four years ago with an ethos of ‘aspiration, achievement, respect and community’, while providing pupils with a ‘stimulating and inspiring academic experience’.

Based in Britain’s Ocean City, Marine Academy Plymouth is a unique educational provider with huge strengths in the Marine Science and Industry.

With the Plymouth University its lead sponsor, pupils at Marine Academy Plymouth benefit from close links with one of the largest universities in the UK. Working in close partnership with the university, the school helps prepare and develop students’ career opportunities in areas such as tourism, business, medicine, catering, engineering, building and agriculture.

The open event is on Monday, September 29 from 6pm to 8pm at the Trevithick Road campus.
