A man has been jailed today in Plymouth Crown Court for breaching a child abduction warning notice.

Michael Rowe from Morice Street, Plymouth has been sentenced to 32 months in prison after breaching the order issued against him in March.

Rowe was issued with Child Abduction Warning Notice under the 1984 Child Abduction Act which prevented him from having contact with a local 13-year-old girl. In June, Rowe was arrested for breaching this order by having the child at his address.

Detective Constable Rachel Summerfield from the Plymouth Public Protection Unit said: “We are pleased with the sentence passed down by the courts today. Michael Rowe was given an order to keep him away from a 13-year-old girl which he ignored, and now he is in prison.

“Safeguarding children is a priority for Devon and Cornwall Police, and this is an example of how we will do everything in our powers to protect children from people like Michael Rowe.”
