A wine tasting evening hosted by Wine World in Honiton in the runup to Christmas has left a very pleasant ‘after taste’ for the Exminster-based health and wellbeing charity Westbank Community Health and Care and its Devon Young Carers service.

The event held at Markaness Hall in Honiton was incredibly well attended and raised a magnificent £1,263.50.

Julian Packer, owner of Wine World, which has two shops in Devon (Honiton and Topsham), said, “Our wine tasting evening in the runup to Christmas was a fun way for us to raise money to support young people who care for others. The Markaness Hall is a fantastic venue in the heart of Honiton that was large enough to accommodate lots of eager wine tasters who had the opportunity to sample over 100 wines from around the world. We’re sure the money raised will be put to very good use providing activities for young people who often miss out on things because of their personal circumstances.”

Patrick Agnew, Westbank’s Service Manager for Devon Young Carers, added, “We’re very grateful to Wine World for supporting us. Devon’s young carers often feel a huge weight of responsibility on their shoulders helping to look after family members who couldn’t manage without them. The money raised will make a real difference to the level of support and range of activities we can provide for them.”
