Homebuilder to invest more than £2.5 million in Mid Devon services as part of planning agreements

Additional funding of more than £2.5 million is to be invested in services in Devon including health, education, and housing, because of three new developments in the county.

Homebuilder Bellway is to deliver hundreds of properties across Mid Devon – at Fox Mill Gardens in Willand, Libbets Grange near Crediton and Empress Gardens in Tiverton – and the planning agreements for those schemes include commitments to support the local area with funding.

Bellway South West Land Director, Sam Sowden, said: “We are committed to significant investment in Devon, providing much-needed new homes at three developments in the Mid Devon district.

“And the payments that we will give as part of our planning agreements will support a range of crucial services, including health, education, and transport.

“This will benefit not only the residents who move into our new homes in Tiverton, Willand and near Crediton, but also people living in the wider community.”

Bellway is delivering 125 new homes at Fox Mill Gardens in Willand, where the first properties have recently been released for sale.

Here, the housebuilder will contribute more than £532,000 towards infrastructure and services including £250,000 for Willand School, £125,000 for off-site open space, £100,000 for public transport, and £52,500 for community healthcare.

The largest sums set to be paid out relate to Bellway’s Libbets Grange scheme near Crediton, which gained planning permission on Wednesday 8 March. Bellway is building 257 homes here, with the first properties due to go on sale spring 2024, as well as providing land for a primary school and Crediton Rugby Club.

This project will bring more than £2 million in payments, including £856,663 for primary education, £675,000 for public transport, £250,000 for rights of way, £93,291 for healthcare, £77,100 for sustainable travel, £64,250 for early years education and £35,391 for special needs.

Meanwhile, Bellway is providing further investment in relation to the 41 new homes being built at Empress Gardens in Tiverton, which is set to launch this summer and where £23,000 will be paid towards the provision of affordable housing within the area.

There’s currently a choice of three and four-bedroom houses available to reserve at Fox Mill Gardens, off Meadow Park, Willand, with prices starting from £320,000.
