Gold Dust fitness challenge launches

A partnership between the Gold Dust Appeal and St Mellion International Resort has been launched with a fitness challenge.

Anyone taking up the Gold Dust Challenge – which offers a variety of activities – gets a five-day temporary membership for St Mellion. A £10 registration fee and any sponsorship raised by participants will all go to Gold Dust.

The 11 different challenges include triathlons (cycling, running and swimming); swim your age in lengths; swim a distance of your choice; and completing a certain number of exercise including press ups and squats. Virtual challenges include rowing the English Channel (34k) in sections, riding Stage 20 of the Tour De France or running or walking a marathon (26.2 miles) in sections. As well as individuals, businesses can take on a group challenge

Darren Stephens, St Mellion Health Club Manager said: “We at St Mellion International Resort are delighted to be working in partnership with the Gold Dust Appeal to help generate funds for the local children's wards at Plymouth's Derriford Hospital.

“Our Health Club at St Mellion can be used to encourage adults and children to embark on a fitness challenge to raise sponsorship funds for the Gold Dust appeal. These have been designed to be fun and can be attempted across the temporary membership and will be signed off by a member of our fitness staff as completed.”

The Gold Dust Appeal aims to raise £100,000 to create bright, exciting and welcoming wards for local children and young people at Plymouth Hospitals. We want to be able to care for children in a stimulating and sensitive environment with bright and spacious surroundings, which will provide greater comfort and privacy for children and their families.
