Drake Circus has joined forces with Plymouth Food Bank for the second year in a row to help provide vital support to those most in need in the local community throughout the festive period.

The centre is calling for visitors to donate long-life food such as cereals and tinned meat, as well as toiletries, and festive treats such as mince pies and Christmas cake while they shop.

Customers can drop off the items at a new community collection point, located at the Customer Service desk on the First Floor, which will be open Monday to Saturday from 10am - 5pm until Christmas Eve.

Greg Lumley, centre director at Drake Circus, said: “Foodbanks provide a vital lifeline to many people across the UK all year round and over the festive period this service is often in high demand.

“That’s we want to play our part in helping those in our local community, and we encourage all of our visitors to get involved if they can as every donation will make a big difference.”

The partnership follows the centre and its visitors raising more than 250kg of food donations and over £1,600 in monetary donations in 2022.

Drake Circus has also pledged to donate all of the funds raised by its annual Christmas Jumper Day event, which took place on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th December, to Plymouth Food Bank.
