Did you witness an unprovoked assault in Plympton

Police are appealing for information after a man was assaulted in an unprovoked attack as he walked home with his wife in Plympton.

The couple were heading home around 11pm on Saturday (29 March) when they were came across a man and a woman arguing near to the Sir Joshua Reynolds Pub at Plympton Ridgeway.

Words were exchanged between the two men and the male offender punched the victim in the face, causing him to be knocked unconscious when he hit the ground.

The victim, a man in his early 50s from Plympton, sustained minor facial and head injuries and was treated at Derriford Hospital.

Police are now seeking the suspect who is described as white, around 30 to 35 years old, 6ft tall, and of medium build. He had darkish brown hair with a waxed or gelled fringe and was wearing a dark-coloured bomber jacket and dark trousers.

He was with a woman who was white, aged 20 to 25, around 5ft 5ins tall and of chunky build. She had dark brown jaw-length straight hair and was wearing a black jacket and a cream or white top.

The pair made off in the direction of the shops on the Ridgeway.

There were a number of witnesses in the area at the time and detectives are asking them to contact police to assist with the investigation.
