Course improvements set to make racedays an even better experience for racing fans
Leading up to the start of this year’s summer jumps season on Easter Saturday, the team at Newton Abbot Racecourse have been hard at work implementing a number of important new improvements and changes.
Over the winter break the racecourse has invested tens of thousands of pounds in improvements both on and off the track, to better the total experience at Newton Abbot Racecourse for visitors, jockeys, owners and of courses horses alike.
Newton Abbot Racecourse is popular with the racing fraternity from racing royalty such as Paul Nicholls and Richard Johnson through to local riders, all of whom enjoy the challenge of this beautifully located track, set in the heart of Devon. To ensure their experiences of the course live up to expectations, the jockeys’ areas, including the weighing room, have been refreshed, ready for the start of the season.
The racecourse is renowned for the quality of the food served across all of its varied catering facilities. To maintain this high level of quality, several of the kitchen facilities have been improved including the Alfresco kitchen, with the main kitchen boasting a number of newly purchased pieces of professional equipment including a new Rational Combimaster.
Racegoers will also benefit from upgrades in the Betting Hall and Teign Suite where rest room facilities have been refreshed. Some of the Teign Suite’s private boxes have also been repainted, making them an even better venue for a corporate or private party with family and friends. And to ensure the course remains accessible to all of its guests, two of the site’s lifts have been refurbished.
All these improvements will be ready to meet the first racegoers of the the new season, which promises to be full of fun and excitement thanks to a full programme of top class racing, family entertainment and special events, such as the new Wellbeing Show in June.
Newton Abbot Racecourse Managing Director, Patrick Masterson, said “Easter’s come early this year but we’re all set and ready for a great day of racing on Easter Saturday, and look forward to welcoming visitors, whether regulars or first-timers to our beautiful course.
“Throughout the year we’ve got an exciting programme of racing lined up with something to suit everyone, whether it’s your first or one hundredth visit.
“Once again, over the winter, we’ve pulled out all the stops to make sure Newton Abbot Racecourse is ready for the new season. Whether you’re a racegoer, a jockey or an owner we want your day at the races to be a fantastic and unforgettable experience and we are sure this season’s fixtures will deliver just that.”
The racecourse’s commitment to providing unforgettable family race days continues with the children’s play area open throughout the season and free entry for children aged 16 and under and students with valid ID throughout the season.
