Choir's all-Mozart offering in March

Devon-born rising star violinist Joel Munday and the renowned London Mozart Players will accompany Exeter Philharmonic Choir at their all-Mozart concert on 15 March.

The main work is Mozart’s Great Mass in C minor, performed by the Choir with the London Mozart Players and an array of top soloists. Joel will play the rarely performed Violin Concerto No. 1 in B flat major. 

The combination of a top-flight UK orchestra, four young professional singers, a talented young violinist and the 100-strong sound of Exeter Philharmonic Choir in the Cathedral promises to create a very special evening. 

The programme is a wonderful opportunity to be immersed in Mozart’s sublime music.  Solo singers - sopranos Lucinda Cox and Daisy Walford (a former Exeter Cathedral chorister), tenor Ruairi Bowen and bass Tim Mirfin - promise to thrill with their virtuosity in arias, duets and trios. 

Conductor and Musical Director Howard Ionascu says: ‘Who better than the London Mozart Players to accompany the Exeter Philharmonic Choir for an All Mozart Programme? The Great Mass is a cornerstone of the choral repertoire for good reason. Some of Mozart’s most imaginative writing can be found in this work with especially glorious moments for the two soprano soloists.

The spring concert is The Lord Mayor’s Concert, to which the Lord Mayor and his consort are invited. There will be a retiring collection for the Lord Mayor’s chosen local charity: FORCE.
