Care staff help kids have an egg-cellent Easter
Care staff across Plymouth are helping kids on Derriford Hospital’s Children’s Ward have an egg-cellent Easter by donating chocolate Easter eggs.
Care home managers and residents attended the 25th Dignity in Care Forum on 18 March which was held at Plymouth Science Park.
At the event, over 74 Easter eggs were collected, which will be donated to Derriford Hospital’s children’s wards, Woodcock and Wildgoose, before Easter.
Councillor Ian Tuffin, Cabinet Member for Health and Adult Social Care for Plymouth City Council said: “The Dignity in Care Forums have been running since 2009 and aim to provide a network for those working in the caring profession to share best practice, to achieve better standards in care homes throughout the city.
“The donation of Easter eggs is a nice gesture from a truly caring sector. We hope that the kids enjoy their chocolate!”
The Dignity in Care Forum is organised by Plymouth City Council’s Quality Assurance and Improvement Team, who have also completed quality reviews for all of the 104 care homes within Plymouth.
Every third Dignity in Care Forum is dedicated to celebrating excellence within the care home setting where managers and service users provide presentations and workshops to share best practice and ideas.
Anita Dykes, Matron for Acute Paediatrics at Derriford Hospital, said: “We are very grateful to everyone for their donation of Easter eggs. They will be a really nice treat for the children who will be with us in hospital, leading up to and during Easter.”
