Young people can sign up to fun, free and exciting activities this summer by logging onto the Summer Mix website from Monday 6 July.

Plymouth’s popular Summer Mix programme is offering young people aged 11 to 19 or - 11 to 25 for those with a disability - living in the city the chance to try something new this summer for free.

Courses on offer are initially restricted to three courses per young person and range from totally different experiences like surfing, overnight camping, dance and graffiti projects , to really practical courses aimed at getting ahead like construction skills , bikeability, and photography and animation skills .

Cabinet Member for Children, Young people, Councillor Sue McDonald said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Plymouth’s young people to try something new, refine their skills or simply fill their time during the six weeks holiday with something fun for free! Interest in this year’s Summer Mix courses is already huge so I’d urge young people to log on to the website as soon as they can to get their names down for any courses they want to try.”

The enrolment form for over 100 different activities and courses taking place throughout August is now live at www.summermix.co.uk along with copies of the brochure detailing exactly what’s on offer and when.

Courses and activities will be assigned on a first come first served basis, so young people wanting to put their name down for a certain course are being encouraged to log on and enrol as soon as possible.

Once the enrolment process has been completed online and your consent form signed and returned, young people will find out quickly if they have been successful in their course choices when they are sent emails confirming all the details.

Summer Mix 2015 has been organised and funded by Plymouth City Council’s Youth Services. It has been supported by local businesses and other organisations, who are providing courses and activities.

Consent forms are available now at www.summermix.co.uk along with copies of the brochure detailing exactly what’s on offer and when. These brochures are also available through schools, libraries and youth centres. Young people without access to a computer can call into their local youth centre or call the Summer Mix team on 01752 306595.

Consent forms need to be signed by a parent or guardian and returned to the Summer Mix team as they are needed by us once you register online to ensure the necessary consent is in place. Young people aged 18 or over can sign their own consent forms.
