This Pride Month (June), housebuilder Allison Homes has donated £500 to Devon-based charity Sunrise Diversity for the second year in a row, helping them to host Bideford Pride.

Sunrise Diversity is a grassroots charity promoting equality, diversity and social inclusion in rural communities in North Devon. In support of LGBTQ+ individuals in particular, the charity organises regular social groups, where they discuss everything from self-care and LGBTQ+ issues to movies and books.

This year, Sunrise Diversity is hosting both Bideford Pride on Saturday 18th August at Victoria Park and the Diversity Festival and LGBTQ+ Pride March on Saturday 27th July in Barnstaple.

The £500 donation from Allison Homes is going towards the running of Bideford Pride and comes as the housebuilder’s South West region is providing new homes across the county. This is the second donation to Sunrise Diversity from Allison Homes, taking the developer’s total contribution amount to £1,000.

Alongside supporting Sunrise Diversity and Bideford Pride, Allison Homes has put Pride flags up at all its developments, including at Primrose Meadows in Bradworthy, Foxglove View in Buckland Brewer, High Moor View in Winkleigh and Weavers Place in North Tawton.

Toni Rance, LGBTQ+ Groups and Activities Coordinator (Torridge) at Sunrise Diversity, said: “I am very excited that Allison Homes are helping support LGBT+ people, we will use their kind donation to make Bideford Pride 24 the best event it can possibly be!”

Steve Fowler, Managing Director at Allison Homes South West, said: “We are extremely proud to be honouring Pride Month by donating £500 to Sunrise Diversity, helping them to host this year’s Bideford Pride.

“At Allison Homes, we are passionate about fostering a supportive workplace where our employees can thrive and feel free to express themselves, and are delighted to have extended this passion to the Devon community.”
