Devon fine-dining restaurant launches Sunday lunch menu
An award-winning Devon restaurant known for its fine dining experiences has introduced a new Sunday lunch menu for the first time in four years.
The Great Western Grill at Bovey Castle, which has been awarded 3 AA Rosettes, has launched a three-course Sunday lunch with a choice of traditional roasts or vegetarian options.
Traditional roasts include slow roast sirloin of Devonshire beef with dripping roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding, or herb roast chicken with sage and onion stuffing and bread sauce - each served with new season vegetables and red wine jus.
Starters range from oak smoked salmon to poached quail egg and wild mushroom Feuillette, while its choice of desserts include warm dark chocolate fondant, treacle tart with clotted cream Devonshire ice cream, or creme caramel with confit orange.
The 100-cover dining room at the Great Western Grill has recently re-opened following a £1.2 million kitchen refurbishment, with a stylish new Champagne and Oyster Bar offering an impressive selection of drinks including exclusive Champagnes, wines, and house cocktails.
Priced at £49 per person for three courses and served between 12.30pm and 2.30pm, its new Sunday lunch offering aims to bring something new to Devon’s Sunday lunch dining market, and includes live music from the hotel’s house pianist.
Dean Gunston, General Manager of Bovey Castle, said: “A lot of our guests know us for our much-loved afternoon teas and award-winning fine dining, but we’ve always been asked about the chances of Sunday lunches returning – so we’re thrilled to bring them back!
“We’ve looked at what’s around in the area and really wanted to bring something that little bit different, something which combines exceptional produce bursting with great flavours, a great atmosphere, and also something that is really great value for money.
“Our executive head chef Mark Budd is one of the best in the business and has built a tremendously talented team, with a Sunday lunch menu which has something for everyone, so we’re excited to have it back as a dining option.”
