The entire village of Bantham in South Devon is to be sold for £10 million

The village which has only 25 houses, a pub and a shop that opens only on weekends is set to be sold off as part of the a £35 million sale of a family owned estate.

Residents lease the houses from Evans Estates who own the properties and many of the leases have carried on for generations.

But they could now face being evicted after it emerged the village and wider estate is set to be sold.

The Evans Estate - which also includes land and properties in Wales and Dorset - is set to go on the market for £35million.

It is not known if Bantham can be bought separately from the rest of the estate but experts say its homes, land and beach make up around £10million of the sale.

Locals received letters last week confirming the village and its surrounding land will be put up for sale.

They have said that Evans Estates would be missed and have voiced concerns that new owners may be less mindful of Bantham residents.
