Warrens Bakery winners of prestigious South West Craft Bakery Business Award
With over 150 years baking experience, Warrens Bakery have been crowned the winner of the esteemed South West Craft Bakery Business Award in the Baking Industry Awards 2018. Victorious in the South West category, it’s the third time in four years the Cornish artisan bakery has been shortlisted in the prestigious Baking Industry Awards.
As the South West champion, Warrens Bakery will now compete against six other regional winners from across England, Scotland and Wales for the overall title of Craft Bakery Business in the 2018 Awards. After a rigorous judging process, the privileged winner will be announced at the black-tie awards ceremony on Wednesday 5th September at London Hilton on Park Lane. The Awards seek to acknowledge the skills and achievements of individuals and businesses operating in the bakery industry and are described as the biggest night in the UK bakery calendar.
Commenting on the regional category win, Mark Sullivan, Chairman of Warrens Bakery says: “We are extremely humbled to have won the South West region in the Craft Bakery Business Award. Not only is it a fantastic achievement for the business but also acknowledges the hard work and commitment of our loyal team. At Warrens Bakery we’re dedicated to sourcing the best ingredients and producing the finest artisan bakery products, it’s wonderful to be recognised for this.”
It’s been an extremely busy year for the premium bakery, who in June opened their 20th franchise store across Britain in Ashford. Earlier this year they also ventured into Wales, opening a bakery in Merthyr Tydfil. Since opening their first franchised bakery in 2017, the South West brand has experienced rapid growth and now plans to open 750 new bakeries in the next five years.
Even with 70 stores across Britain, Warrens Bakery still crimp all of their pasties by hand in Cornwall, they are after-all the oldest Cornish pasty maker in the World. In addition to their iconic pasties, they’ve become renowned for their amazing selection of artisan breads, speciality Cornish delicacies, savouries, scones, cakes and sweet treats and are proud to put a firm focus on provenance, hand crafted skill and innovation. All of their baked goods are made with an enormous amount of care and attention to detail with many still produced using traditional recipes and techniques. It’s this care and attention to detail which has led Warrens Bakery to receive numerous accolades over their 150 year history. This year in addition to the South West Craft Bakery Business Award they also achieved a silver at the British Pie Awards and second place at the World Pasty Championships for their Vegan Thai Pasty.
