Map of Kids Activities in your Area: National Children’s Activities Week
Do your kids fancy sensory play in Southport? Drama tots in Derby? Baby yoga in Basildon?
Then fear not! The UK's largest annual celebration of children's activities, Children’s Activities Week, is just one month away, and there are a number of exciting activities awaiting those taking part. The fundraising event is organised by What’s On 4 Kidsand runs from 13-19th May.
The event supports the meaningful work of Caudwell Children, a charity changing the lives of children with autism and disabilities with both practical and emotional support services.
With hundreds of activity providers already signed up for this year, children will be able to enjoy the endless benefits of the many activities, clubs and classes offered across the UK. To find out what’s happening in your area is easy. Simply search via a postcode using the interactive map.
Featuring the return of the popular #WatchMeFly theme, the event helps promote the positive impact of activities on children and their families, providing opportunities for children to learn, engage with other children and find new passions.
With all proceeds from Children’s Activities Week being directly donated to the charity, the event directly supports the charity’s mission to change society, increasing awareness and understanding of the challenges faced by autistic and disabled children, and positively shaping public perception and attitudes. Sam Willoughby, chief executive of What’s On 4 Kids and founder of Children’s Activities Week, said: “We want to encourage families all across the country to take part this year. Not only would they be supporting a great cause, but there are extraordinary benefits for children.
“We are grateful to have the support of so many like-minded activity providers who understand the importance of offering activities that inspire and engage children.
“And most importantly, we look forward to seeing the impact of the event in raising funds for Caudwell Children, helping the charity continue to provide life-changing assistance and opportunities”.
Both physical and other types of play activities enhance wellbeing in a variety of ways, relieving stress and tension, enhancing creativity, and boosting cognitive development.
Most activities involve an element of social interaction, too, which fosters connections and develops communication and teamwork skills, a vital part of experiencing a healthy childhood.
This year, CAW will include various activities including fancy dress, and sponsored challenges, giving children the chance to get involved in new and exciting activities and expand their horizons.
