Jon Culshaw: The Great British Take Off - spring tour is coming to Devon
Celebrated comedian, impressionist and star of BBC Radio 4’s Dead Ringer’s Jon Culshaw (accompanied by legendary comedy producer and author Bill Dare), takes to the road for a new run of their acclaimed show The Great British Take Off, following sell out runs at the Edinburgh Festival and across the UK.
And the good news is that the tour will be coming to The Palace Theatre in Paignton on 12th March and The Red House Theatre in Plymouth on 14th March.
During an evening of unscripted, spontaneous comedy and conversation, Jon reveals the secrets of mimicry as he transforms into a wide range of instantly recognisable politicians, sports personalities and celebrities.
Together with Bill he also reveals some of the mishaps and mayhem of life behind the scenes in television and on the celebrity circuit. The Great British Take Off is topical, satirical, anecdotal and highly entertaining.
Over the last couple of decades, Jon Culshaw has established himself as one of Britain’s best impressionists with an unmatched versatility and a catalogue of over 350 voices and impersonations including; Boris Johnson, Donald Trump, Michael Gove, Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Michael McIntyre, Alan Carr, Professor Brian Cox, John Bishop, Will I Am, Andy Murray, and Paul O’Grady to name a few. He is the inimitable master of comedic guise.
His own series "The Impressionable Jon Culshaw" was broadcast on ITV1 and he has received rave reviews for the BBC 2 TV series "Dead Ringers" that ran for 7 years. "Dead Ringers" transferred from Radio 4 to television but enjoys equal success as a Radio 4 ongoing series. On television this programme has won the Best Political Satire Award at the Political Studies Association Awards 2004 and on radio it has won the British Comedy Award for Best Radio Comedy, the Sony Gold Radio Academy Award and the Broadcasting Press Guild Award for Best Radio Programme. The show is also the winner of the British Comedy Guide Best Radio Sketch Show for the last three years running.
Other television credits include "2DTV" (ITV1), "The National Music Awards" (ITV1), "Christmas with the Stars" (BBC1), "Parkinson" (BBC), “The Graham Norton Show” (BBC), Tonight With Jonathan Ross (ITV), "Night of A Thousand Faces" (BBC), "The Royal Variety Performance 2002" (BBC), "The Royal Variety Performance 2001" (ITV), “Peston” (ITV), “The Daily Politics Show” (BBC), “This Week” (BBC), “Good Morning Britain” (ITV), “Mock The Week” (BBC), "They Think its All Over" (BBC), "Never Mind the Buzzcocks" (BBC), "Peter Cook, A Posthumous Tribute" (BBC), “We Are Most Amused – For The Princes Trust” (ITV) and "Spitting Image" (ITV) where he provided the voices to over forty characters.
