Big the Musical comes to Plymouth
Next month, Theatre Royal Plymouth will host the European premiere of BIG THE MUSICAL. Opening on 5 November 2016, BIG will run until 12 November before transferring to Bord Gáis Energy Theatre for a Christmas run ahead of its West End opening next year.
BIG, the heart-warming and hilarious Broadway musical based on the classic movie starring Tom Hanks, tells the story of Josh Baskin, a twelve year old boy who hates being little, until one night at the carnival the mysterious Zoltar machine grants his wish to be big. Trapped in an adult’s body and alone in New York, he innocently tries to find his way around a grown-up world where it’s all work and no play. But whilst everyone around him tries to act their age, Josh just can't help being himself. Maybe he can teach the real adults a thing or two…
With an all-star cast led by The Wanted singer and Strictly Come Dancing champion Jay McGuiness, BIG is a joyous musical spectacular that will enchant audiences of all ages as it brilliantly brings to life the magic of one of the best-loved movies of all time. Jay will be joined by Jessica Martin as Mrs Baskin, Diana Vickers as Susan Lawrence and Gary Wilmot as George MacMillan, with The Hoosiers star Irwin Sparkes as Paul.
Featuring songs by David Shire and Richard Maltby. Book by John Wiedman. Direction & choreography by Morgan Young.
BIG. The show for the big kid in all of us.
