It’s high paws for Dogs Trust Ilfracombe who hosted its annual fun day at Mullacott Equestrian Centre on Sunday 16th July, raising more than £3,600 for homeless hounds.

Hundreds of supporters attended the event, which was sponsored by Argyll Vets, with plenty of fun and games to entertain the whole family – both two-legged and four-legged members. The money raised will certainly help keep tails wagging, with the fundraising going towards looking after the 45 dogs currently being cared for at the Ilfracombe rehoming centre.

Amy Bingham, Supporter Relations Officer at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe, said:

“Despite raining, this didn’t put a dampener on our fun day, with our supporters coming out in force to enjoy the event. The day was a huge success and we couldn’t have achieved it without the support from the public, as well as various local businesses, organisations and of course, our volunteers who gave up their time and worked so hard on the day. We have managed to raise a fantastic £3,600, with money still coming in.”

Highlights from the day included a grand raffle, tombolas for both dogs and their owners, doggy dash and an agility display by Barnstaple and District Dog Training Society. The popular fun Dog Show was also a massive hit, with classes including the most handsome dog and prettiest pooch, along with the best rescue class, being a qualifier for the Buckham Fair event next month, which is hosted by actor Martin Clunes.

In the end, beautiful Taser took the accolade of Best in Show, with Dogs Trust Chief Executive, Adrian Burder, judging the final class.
