Christmas at Honicknowle Youth Centre
Share in some festive cheer at a cracking Christmas event for the whole community at Honicknowle Youth Centre on Saturday 14 December.
Youth workers at the Centre on Honicknowle Lane are supporting young people to organise and hold the Christmas event, which is not only for young people, but open to the whole community.
The event will bring local partners together including Plymouth Argyle and ‘Honicknowle Comment’ and will offer visitors a host of Christmas goodies and activities.
Young and old will be treated to Santa’s Grotto with gift and picture, entertainment from the young people’s choir singing Christmas carols, a cake stall, handmade Christmas card sale, Christmas arts and crafts for all ages, a raffle, soft play area and Santa sumo suits.
A children’s entertainer is set to show off some skills at 2.30pm with animal balloon making and juggling, plus there will be face painting for anyone feeling festive.
There will be free refreshments for all including mince pies and cream, soup, pigs in blankets, roasted nuts, tea, coffee, hot mulled spiced apple juice and hot chocolate. And to round off a truly Christmassy event, there will be fairground-style games to keep all the family busy including hoopla, tombola, coconut shy and hook a duck.
Simon Hooper, Senior Youth Worker at the Honicknowle Youth Centre, said: “We’re really hoping for a nice big crowd, as there will be an incredible amount for families to enjoy and the majority of it is free. We’re calling on people to come along and support young people in Honicknowle, who have worked really hard to put on this event for the local community.”
