Be there when MTV Crashes Plymouth!
Tickets for this summer’s MTV Crashes Plymouth event will be available from Friday 2 May.
The spectacular live music event, being organised by MTV in collaboration with Plymouth City Council, will take place on Plymouth Hoe on Tuesday 15 July and feature a number of headline music acts.
It follows other massively popular MTV Crashes events staged in Glasgow, Belfast and Manchester.
MTV Crashes Plymouth will be one of the highlights of the city’s ‘Three Towns’ centenary celebrations, marking 100 years since Devonport, Plymouth and Stonehouse joined to form Plymouth as it is known today.
The event will be broadcast on MTV’s flagship UK music TV channels MTV Music and MTV Live HD and subsequently across its other music channels, showcasing Britain’s Ocean City in over 35 countries. As well as live coverage of the performances, MTV will be screening interviews with the acts, filmed in various Plymouth locations.
Tickets cost just £5, plus a booking fee of £1.50 and will go on sale at www.seetickets.com and through the box office on 0871 231 0840 on Friday 2 May at 9am.
Three-quarters of the tickets will be offered to local event-goers first and will initially be available only to Plymouth residents.
Any unsold tickets will then be made available to the wider public with the remaining tickets on Friday 9 May.
Deputy Council Leader Peter Smith said: “We’re really excited to be working with MTV to host this fantastic event, which will bring the local community and visitors from all over the UK and beyond together in celebrating one of the most important dates in Plymouth’s history.
“We’ve made sure that only a nominal fee is charged for tickets – to help cover the costs of staging of what will be a very memorable night for Plymouth with some fantastic artists.”
"This is an amazing opportunity to promote Plymouth as Britain's Ocean City on a worldwide stage and will cement Plymouth’s reputation as a leading venue for major national and international events, as well as a vibrant centre of music and culture.”
Duncan Currall, Chairman of Destination Plymouth added: “We are delighted that Plymouth City Council is to be partnering with MTV, the leading global music brand, on this event. Destination Plymouth, Plymouth Waterfront Partnership and City Centre Company BIDs and Plymouth City Council are all working closely together to deliver the visitor plan for the city.
“Hosting major music events and working with leading global brands is part of the long term strategy to position Plymouth as Britain’s Ocean City and to increase visitor numbers to the city by over 20 per cent by 2020."
Acts confirmed to perform at MTV Crashes Plymouth will be announced shortly after 2 May.
