Students at Tavistock College, which is part of the Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust are celebrating today after receiving their GCSE results, as they get ready to take their next steps in their educational journey.

Staff and students have come together to mark the achievements of all the students, who have worked exceptionally hard over the last 5 years to secure these grades.

Alongside the continued success of the academy generally, some particular individual highlights include:

  • Finlay Ross - six grade 9s, three grade 8's and 1 grade 7
  • Daisy Hemming - two grade 9's, three grade 8's, one Distinction, two grade 7's and two grade 6's
  • Kieran Edwards - two grade 9’s, four grade 8’s, one grade 7, two grade 6’s and one grade 5
  • Mya Turner - one grade 9, three grade 8’s, and four grade 7’s
  • Esther Corness - one grade 9, one A*, two grade 8’s, five grade 7’s, one Distinction and one grade 6
  • Lily Booth - one grade 9, one Distinction*, one grade 8, five grade 7’s and two grade 6’s
  • Samuel Goodman - one grade 9, four grade 8’s, three grade 7’s
  • Noah Bruff - one grade 9, three grade 8’s, four grade 7’s
  • Lucia Avent - one grade 9, one A*, two grade 8’s, four grade 7’s and one grade 6

We saw some fantastic progress and outcomes across a number of subjects, but specifically Art, Business Studies, Construction, Creative Media, Dance, DT and PE.

Tristan Muller-Forster, Principal at Tavistock College, said: “Today is a fantastic opportunity to pause and celebrate the work of our amazing students. We are fortunate to see these young people and 100’s more in different year groups, produce high quality work and dedication to their studies everyday, but specifically today we are very proud of these particular students and the results they have achieved, which are hugely deserved.

All involved in these results, staff, parents and of course the students themselves have worked extremely hard over the last two years, and throughout their time with us, and it’s brilliant to be celebrating their achievements today.

We are incredibly proud that these results will enable more young people to enter our sixth form than we have had over the last 10 years, and have the opportunity to study a broad variety of academic and vocational subjects right here in their local school.

“I would like to thank all our students, their families, our staff and the wider academy community for their ongoing support and we look forward to seeing our students progress on to the next stage of their education, training or employment to fulfil their goals.”
