Singing sensation at Plympton Academy
Year 7 pupil, Leona Downie, from Plympton Academy made it through to the final of the Radio Plymouth local talent show recently.
Leona’s mum entered her for the radio station competition and she was the only child entrant to reach the top three.
Although she didn’t win it hasn’t put her off her aspirations of being a professional singer when she’s older.
“Everyone in school has been really supportive,” said Leona. “They’ve been 100% behind me throughout this competition which really helped as I was quite nervous.”
At the age of eight she joined the choir at Mary Dean Primary School and it wasn’t long before her talents were recognised and she became the lead singer.
“I’ve always loved singing and performing arts,” said Leona.
