Cricket success for Ridgeway School
The Year 10 Ridgeway School cricket team have had their first success of the season. The winning team along with the Year 9 team, were involved in matches against Hele’s School and All Saints Academy, hosted in the dome at Hele’s.
In the first round of matches, Ridgeway’s Year 10 team beat All Saint’s Academy, with Brandon Dawe the star of the show, taking three wickets in as many balls. The boys just missed out on a second victory after a tight-encounter with Hele’s, who host several athletes from Plympton Cricket Club.
The second round of fixtures saw the Year 9 boys making their debut for Ridgeway. An impressive performance by Ollie Clemes helped Ridgeway score an impressive score against All Saints in the rounds opening game. The boys couldn’t hold on though, as All Saints chased down the score towards the end of the game.
In the all Ridgeway clash, the Year 10’s took the spoils, with tight bowling from Aaron White restricted the score of the Year 9 boys, despite the best efforts of Ellis Nosworthy. The Year 9 team bowled well at the start, but when Mitchell Lawson got bat in hand, there was only going to be one outcome.
The boys are looking forward to getting on the grass, and donning their whites against Hele’s in the near future, as the hardball season approaches.
