Ridgeway School awarded £2m for building improvements

Ridgeway School has been awarded £2 million for building improvements.

The money has come from two Capital Improvement bids that were submitted to the Education Funding Agency earlier this year.

The first project will be to provide a two storey extension that will house a state-of-the art Performing Arts Centre. This new building will have music classrooms, practice rooms, recording studio, drama studios and a new performance space. The vision is for the facilities to be used in conjunction with the community. This partnership has proved successful with the new sports centre.

The second project will see the existing PE hardstand area resurfaced with new fencing and lighting that will add another significant external space for sport to the already improved Community Sports hall.

“This funding means we can provide a school to inspire our future generations and one in which the community can be proud of,” said Principal Lisa Boorman. “The School has also been selected as part of the Government’s Priority Schools Building Programme (PSBP) which means that other parts of the school will also be refurbished or rebuilt over the next couple of years.”

Ridgeway School is working in partnership with TFQ Architects on the building projects that will enhance facilities across the school.
