British Cookery School Awards open for entries
Cookery schools in the limelight as the British Cookery School Awards open for entries
Britain’s biggest awards scheme dedicated to UK cookery schools, the British Cookery School Awards, opens this week for 2014 entries. The organisers are calling for all cookery schools to be acknowledged for the important role they play in driving Britain’s passion for cooking good, homemade food.
With more than 800 cookery schools now operating in the UK, the British Cookery School Awards 2014 – sponsored by Kenwood – honour all those excellent cookery schools across the nation that go above and beyond to deliver a first class cookery school experience. Other sponsors include Lakeland, Braun, Maldon Salt, Premier Foods and Delicious magazine/
Now in its third year, the awards have gone from strength to strength, attracting participants from a cross section of schools, some small and specialist, others catering to professional development and running large scale courses at multiple venues. This year for the first time, the awards will also include a category for online cookery schools and also introduce categories that will recognise the efforts of cookery departments in secondary schools and higher educational institutions.
As well as encouraging cookery schools from across the UK to enter themselves into the awards, cookery school fans can also put forward their “People’s Choice” suggestions. This additional award is an opportunity for the public to nominate their favourite cookery school. If you’ve had amazing culinary training experience, received help to change or improve the way you cook, or have been provided with inspiration to create gastronomic delights then the British Cookery School Awards want to hear from you.
To nominate your favourite British cookery school just email the name of the school to peopleschoice@britishcookeryschoolawards.co.uk by Monday 8th September. You can also submit your nomination via Twitter using the #bcsapeopleschoice
The judging panel will again be headed up by Nigel Barden, all round “foodie” expert and the food and drink presenter on BBC Radio 2’s Simon Mayo drivetime show. Nigel will be joined by Delicious magazine editor Karen Barnes, Kenwood’s Development Chef Martin Johns, Premier Foods Developmental Chef Anthony Warner and Guy Lincoln, senior lecturer at Leeds Metropolitan University’s Centre of Hospitality and Retailing Management.
