A children's cancer charity has received a fundraising boost after being chosen as the new charity partner of law firm Womble Bond Dickinson (WBD).

Hugs Children's Cancer Charity provides help to families with children suffering from cancer diagnoses in Plymouth, Devon and Cornwall through emotional and financial support, group events, hospital visits and its unique respite home. WBD’s Plymouth office will work with the charity to raise funds and awareness, as well as provide pro bono and volunteering support, over the next two years.

The partnership is part of WBD’s responsible business strategy, which aims to make a positive impact on the communities, environment and people it works with.

Nikki Jonas, partner and CSR lead at WBD’s Plymouth office, said: "We are delighted to support Hugs Children's Cancer Charity as our local charity partner in Plymouth.

"The charity does amazing work to help families facing the toughest of challenges and we are looking forward to getting involved in their activities and fundraising initiatives.

"As a firm, we are committed to making a positive difference in our communities and this partnership is a great way to do that."

Elsbeth Hallam, founder and chief executive of Hugs Children's Cancer Charity, said: "We are very grateful to Womble Bond Dickinson for choosing us as their charity partner.

"This will be a huge boost for our work, as we rely on donations and fundraising to provide support to children with cancer and their families.

"We look forward to working with the WBD team and sharing our vision of a world where no child or their family has to face cancer alone."
