Festive fun comes to The Broadway

Christmas Extravaganza Lights Switch On in association with Radio Plymouth to take place on Wednesday 22nd November

The Broadway Plymstock is set to sparkle on Wednesday 22nd November as its annual Christmas Extravaganza Lights Switch On in association with Radio Plymouth officially marks the start of the festive season.

Plymouth’s Got Talent winner, Kallie Hudson will headline the festive event, while the winner of The Broadway’s school Christmas card competition will have the honour of pushing the big button and switching on Plymstock’s dazzling Christmas lights (6:30pm).

Kallie will be supported by live performances from a whole host of local artists, appearances from the Plymouth Party Princesses and of course the man of the moment, Father Christmas.

There will also be an extensive Christmas Market with more than 25 stalls catering to any festive shopping need, from decorations and cards to presents and seasonal fayre.

Shoppers will be able to enjoy a wealth of activities for the whole family, including a seasonal ‘Elfie’ station in our magical inflatable igloo and free festive face painting, where young shoppers will be transformed into a whole host of seasonal characters, from snowmen to cheeky elves.

Visitors will be able to take advantage of special offers from The Broadway’s 20+ stores and there will be opportunities to win a number of great prizes.

Centre Manager, Mark Berry, said: “Our Christmas lights switch on event is enormously popular, with around 14,000 people joining us each year to mark the start of their seasonal celebrations.

“This year’s line up is a fantastic celebration of local trade and talent. We look forward to welcoming all of our guests for what promises to be a fun-filled festive event!”

As if this fantastic calendar of events wasn’t enough, local choirs from all around the area will be invited into the centre throughout December to sing a selection of Christmas carols and festive favourites.

Tricia Duff, MD at Radio Plymouth, added: “The Broadway Plymstock’s Christmas Light Switch on Extravaganza is one of our favourite events of the year. Over the last six years we have been involved we have really seen the whole community coming together in celebration and the atmosphere is always electric.”

There will also be great festive prizes on offer through the Broadway Facebook page every single Wednesday as part of the #WinItWednesday activity. Shoppers simply have to like and share posts for a chance to win some great gifts including sweet treats, stationery, toys, vouchers and more!

The fun will kick off from 3:30pm on Wednesday 22nd November and will run right up until Christmas – make sure you don’t miss out!
